Job description

About Us

Dutch Vet is transforming veterinary care by making expert treatment accessible anytime, anywhere. Our mission is simple: help every pet live their happiest, healthiest life by connecting pet parents with licensed vets through seamless virtual visits.

We’re the only veterinary telemedicine service that can diagnose, prescribe, and ship medications directly to customers in most states. For less than $100 per year, Dutch offers real relief and convenience for pets and their families.

As one customer put it: “Dutch was the only site that would diagnose and prescribe meds as well as ship the meds.”

Here’s what other customers have said about Dutch Vet:

“The easiest vet visit you'll ever have.”

“More thorough than my in-person vet.”

“No nonsense, quick, easy and friendly veterinarian. Much cheaper than our regular local vet that couldn’t get us in. So glad I found Dutch!”

Backed by world‑class investors including Forerunner Ventures, Eclipse Ventures, and Bling Capital, our team is made‑up of successful startup founders (Hims, PlushCare, Nasty Gal) with expertise in scaling enterprises (TripAdvisor, Walmart, BARK). Featured in TechCrunch, Forbes, Wired, and Axios, Dutch is setting the standard for quality, accessibility, and compassion in pet care.

The Role

We're hiring a Senior Product Manager, Ecommerce to own and grow Dutch's ecommerce business — spanning both prescription and non‑prescription products. This is a hands‑on, high‑ownership role: you'll set the strategy, but you'll also be in the weeds — homepage, collection pages, PDPs, the items file, funnel instrumentation — because at this stage, the person who owns the strategy has to be able to execute it too.

We're looking for someone who has done this before, at a startup, without a large team to hand things off to. You've built or rebuilt a storefront from the ground up, you know what \"good\" looks like on a PDP because you've shipped dozens of them, and you have scar tissue from funnels that didn't convert until you fixed them. You'll lead the complete reimagination of Dutch's product storefront — a greenfield effort — in tight collaboration with design, product, and engineering, and you'll partner closely with our AI team to turn Dutch's EMR data advantage into personalized, high‑converting product and prescription recommendations no traditional pet retailer can replicate.

WHAT YOU WILL OWN:

Strategy & P&L Ownership

  • Own the full P&L for Dutch's ecommerce business — across prescription and non‑prescription products — setting targets, tracking performance, and driving accountability across revenue, margin, and profitability.

  • Proactively identify the highest‑value opportunities for product sales — assessing market signals, platform data, and customer needs — then drive cross‑functional execution to deliver.

  • Define and evolve the product assortment strategy across both prescription and OTC categories — balancing pet‑health relevance, commercial potential, and brand trust.

  • Monitor market trends, competitor moves, and emerging product categories to keep Dutch ahead of the curve.

Storefront, Merchandising & Commerce Experience

  • Own the storefront end to end — homepage, collection/category pages, and PDPs — with direct, hands‑on involvement in the build, not just the brief.

  • Lead the full reimagination of Dutch's product storefront from concept through execution, partnering closely with our Creative Director, UX Lead, and Engineering team to build an experience that is both vet‑credible and commercially effective.

  • Own the merchandising strategy: curate and manage product collections, design promotional calendars, and think holistically about how categories, bundles, and campaigns work together to drive conversion and repeat purchase.

  • Define and implement the right selling mechanisms across Rx and OTC — subscriptions, auto‑refills, bundles, vet‑recommended collections, and promotional offers — ensuring a cohesive experience that feels tailored, not transactional.

Conversion Funnel Optimization

  • Own the full consumer‑facing conversion funnel, from landing to checkout, and bring a proven track record of measurably improving it — not just running tests, but knowing which tests matter and why.

  • Build and maintain the testing roadmap for the storefront and funnel, using analytics to prioritize, test, learn, and iterate quickly.

  • Diagnose drop‑off points using data and qualitative signals, and translate findings into shipped improvements.

Assortment & Platform Management

  • Manage the items file and underlying product data — build a strategy for how we structure and maintain metadata across the catalog.

  • Own the product catalog lifecycle — from onboarding to performance review and sunset decisions.

  • Bring a clear point of view on the CMS and item‑management tooling Dutch should use to support the storefront and catalog as we scale, and be able to articulate the tradeoffs behind that recommendation.

  • Continuously scout for hot new products, emerging brands, and category innovations that align with our pet parents' needs.

AI‑Powered Personalization

  • Partner deeply with Dutch's AI team to build a personalized product recommendation engine grounded in our EMR data and vet‑issued insights.

  • Define the data inputs, recommendation logic, and feedback loops needed to surface the right products to the right pet parents at the right moment.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • 7+ years of product management experience in ecommerce, marketplace, or consumer product businesses, at a startup, with a track record of driving meaningful revenue growth.

  • Direct, hands‑on experience owning a storefront across its full surface area — homepage, collection pages, PDPs, and the items file — not just directing others who owned it.

  • Proven, measurable success improving consumer‑facing conversion funnels — you can point to specific before/after results you drove.

  • Demonstrated experience owning a P&L and managing to margin and profitability targets, not just top‑line metrics.

  • Deep comfort with data: you know how to read it, question it, and turn it into decisions and recommendations.

  • Experience working cross‑functionally with product, design, engineering, and data science teams to build and ship.

  • Strong commercial instincts — you can identify a market opportunity, build a business case, and execute a plan to capture it.

  • Exceptional drive and self‑motivation: you set ambitious goals, hold yourself accountable, and find a way to win.

Nice to Have

  • Hands‑on experience with Shopify; if not Shopify specifically, you should have a strong point of view on which CMS and item‑management tools you'd choose for a business like Dutch, and why.

  • Experience with membership or subscription‑based business models — not required, but a plus.

  • Experience in pet, health & wellness ecommerce.

  • Background working with AI/ML‑powered personalization or recommendation systems.

  • Familiarity with vendor negotiations, wholesale buying, or marketplace supplier management.
