Job description

We are looking for an experienced and driven Senior Product Manager to lead the development and enhancement of Securian Canada’s insurance technology solutions. In this role, you will work closely with cross-functional teams including development, sales, training, professional services, sales support, and partnered insurance carriers to design and deliver innovative solutions aligned with both industry research and customer needs. You will manage the full product lifecycle, from market research and ideation through to development, implementation, and launch, while also defining and executing the digital experience for Securian Canada’s clients. As the business lead for third-party collaborations, your expertise will help shape the future of our digital products and services.

What you will do

  • Lead a motivated agile technical team in business analysis, development, and quality assurance;
  • Define product requirements , write user stories, and continuously groom the backlog to ensure timely delivery of priority items;
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives , managing tasks, tools, and relationships from product planning through to launch and production;
  • Act as the liaison between business and technology teams;
  • Report on internal KPIs aligned with software release schedules and the technology roadmap;
  • Conduct business and systems analysis to build product designs in alignment with the technology product roadmap;
  • Ensure products and releases are launched correctly and on schedule, taking ownership of product launch and release plans in coordination with third-party vendors, insurance carriers, sales support, marketing, training, and sales teams;
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing to develop go-to-market strategies, product collateral, positioning, key benefits, and target audience;
  • Develop, maintain, and communicate the technology product roadmap both internally and externally;
  • Create short- and long-term product visions aligned with Securian Canada’s enterprise strategy and partnered insurance carriers’ strategic mandates;
  • Clearly articulate how individual technology product roadmaps support Securian Canada’s overall digital roadmap and enterprise strategy.

What you will bring

  • The education. A bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
  • The experience. 7-10+ years of insurance industry experience with insurance carriers or technology companies . 5+ years of experience in a Product Management or Senior Business Analysis role. Product Management certification is an asset. Insurance license is a plus. Experience driving results within an agile framework. Agile, Project Management, and / or Scrum certification are assets.
  • The knowledge. Strong understanding of creditor insurance products and the insurance domain. Experience conducting business and systems analysis to develop product designs aligned with technology roadmaps. Familiarity with software tools such as Jira and Microsoft Project.
  • The skills. Excellent documentation skills, with experience developing BRD, SRS, SOP, and UML documents. Ability to lead joint application design sessions. Strong communication and presentation skills. Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
