Working as part of a cross-functional team you lead the RDQ activities required to complete new product development and maintain portfolios and/or productivity projects keeping in mind the goal to deliver the desired consumer experience.

How you will contribute

You will work independently to plan, lead and coordinate technical projects in line with RDQ, marketing and manufacturing requirements You will effectively communicate status and risks and plan, lead and coordinate pilot plant and factory trials in accordance with good manufacturing practice and HACCP requirements. In addition, you will plan, lead and coordinate development activities (e.g. product shelf-life testing, designing for quality, consumer test preparation. etc.). To provide direction for product development, you will use digital simulation models to obtain, understand and interpret consumer insights and commercial information. In this role, you will create and maintain accurate consumer-led specifications and be responsible for stakeholder management and influencing decisions based on conclusions made from analysis and interpretation of results.

What you need to know about this position:

The holder of this position independently plans, leads and co-ordinates large to medium sized projects from R&D, which includes from consumer understanding to commercial plans for implementation. The person will need a high level of organization and analytical thinking. They will deliver expert technical knowledge for product development and process development for chocolate, develop solutions to problems, ensuring compliance to technical policies & procedures and delivering the right technical input to address business needs. Executes against objectives and significantly influences the direction and quality of work done by other technical people and stakeholders. This person will work for Chocolate North America through execution in Canada.

Job Specific Requirements:

  • 8+ years related experience, preferably in food industry/manufacturing
  • Strong technical foundation and technical curiosity.
  • Ability to develop, plan for, and carry out plant trials
  • Experience developing and driving technical projects with proper scientific rigor: conduct appropriate testing, gather and analyze data, and develop recommendations based on findings.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects, prioritize and manage complexity- from bench top to commercialization.
  • Experience working in cross functional teams to identify and resolve technical issues
  • Expertise writing process specifications that deliver consistent, high-quality products across numerous manufacturing facilities.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; able to effectively communicate to all levels within the organization

Education / Certifications:

  • BSc in Food Science, Chemical Engineering or related field.

Travel requirements:

  • Travel up to 25%, to potential locations in Canada, Europe, US, and Mexico.
  • Typical business hours with flexibility for trials outside of normal business hours.
