Overview

Industry’s leading accessories manufacturer is looking for an exceptionally creative product developer with a great sense of fashion, an individual with great attention to detail and ability to apply their design skills on product design creation and development for various accessories.

Opportunity

As a leader in the Design Department, you will be responsible for creating programs for our growing retail channels. This role requires strong creative vision, leadership, excellent communication, and technical expertise in design software. Lead and mentor other Designers providing guidance on design techniques, project management and current trends. With your leadership contribution to this role, you will belong to a fun, creative, business goal oriented team.

  • A deep understanding of fashion trends, consumer behavior, and the commercial aspects of the fashion industry.
  • Culturally sensitive, aware of latest social media fashion trends
  • Ability to recognize and accurately interpret trends into design
  • Collaborating with marketing team to ensure designs align with brand identity, market demands, and price targets
  • Manage design timelines and budgets, ensuring that projects are completed efficiently and meet deadlines
  • Extensive knowledge in product sourcing and product development from raw materials to finished product of fashion accessories – soft and hard goods
  • Ability to create complex print ready artwork for printing using Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Creation and execution of detailed spec package to send to overseas factories which include material information, sketches, print artwork
  • Communicating with overseas factories at a regular basis to ensure proper development sample standards are met
  • Create, manage and maintain costing files
  • Create fluid collections with a mix of various accessories for various national brands and private label brands
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills
  • Work with China team to ensure all sourcing is within timeline
  • Challenge the status quo by constantly identifying areas for improvement
  • Travel to domestic and international for market research and trending
Required Experiences
  • 6+ years experience in design and accessory construction
  • Experience in Travel Accessories or Home Goods is an asset
  • Post-secondary education in Fashion Design or Graphic Design
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with various teams and convey ideas effectively.
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Organizational and time management skills required
