Job description

Department : Product Creation Development
Reports to : Product Development Lead
Location : North Vancouver, BC

Your opportunity at Arc’teryx : As a Senior Product Developer, you are responsible for managing our most technical and complex products from design maker phase (concept) through to production readiness. You lead with integrity and by example, providing overall support and mentoring to the Product Developers. Your innovative and solutions-focused approach to development ensures that each product you work on meets Arc’teryx's design intent and brand integrity requirements. This role is based out of our North Vancouver office and is expected to be performed on-location. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.

Meet Your Future Team : You are part of a focused team of product developers, designers, pattern makers, and cut and sew team members that work on creating innovative products. This team builds strong relationships with cross-functional partners to realize ideas into commercialized successes.

Core activities include :

  1. Executing the development of our most technical and complex products from design maker phase (concept) and intent through to pre-production readiness.
  2. Leading and influencing the development process to achieve commercial viability of designs through partnership and collaboration with Product Design, Raw Materials, Sourcing, Supply Chain, Production, and Quality departments.
  3. Partnering and collaborating with Design, Pattern Making, Sample Sewing teams internally, as well as with vendors, to ensure concepts and prototypes meet established standards.
  4. Collaborating with other Senior Product Developers to ensure consistency across product types.
  5. Supporting and coaching Product Developers and Assistants daily, and training new hires as needed.
  6. Maintaining accurate database documentation of BOM information and technical specifications for efficient sourcing and production.
  7. Executing calendar deliverables including concept samples, prototypes, material validation, and quality evaluations.
  8. Contributing to the creation and evolution of construction standards with the Product Integrity team.
  9. Working with Merchandising, Design, and Brand Marketing to ensure external communications reflect model specifications.
  10. Identifying opportunities for process improvement to drive evolution within our Product Creation process.
  11. Facilitating cross-departmental problem solving and providing Development support as needed.
  12. Providing input into Product Operations for evolving IS requirements and training tools.
  13. Upholding FLA’s Workplace Code of Conduct and Principles of Fair Labor and Responsible Sourcing throughout the supply chain.

Future projects may include :

  • Developing in-house sampling and direct-to-factory developments.
  • Collaborating on future concepting and product testing with the Advanced Concepts department.
  • Evolving the commercialization process cross-functionally.

Are you our next Senior Product Developer?

  • 7+ years of experience in Product Design, Industrial Design, or Product Development focusing on technical design development.
  • An Undergraduate Degree in Industrial Design, Technical Degree, or equivalent industry training or experience.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, capable of working outside seasonal timelines.
  • Experience communicating with domestic and offshore vendors and manufacturers.
  • Comprehensive understanding of design intent, aesthetics, construction, 3D form, production, and fit.
  • Knowledge of the product lifecycle from ideation to consumer.
  • Strong understanding of raw materials, technical construction, and sourcing.
  • Familiarity with tools like Adobe Suite or similar; Centric is a plus.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Proactive, goal-driven, and adaptable to ambiguity.
  • Passionate about outdoor activities and living the brand ethos.
  • Proven mentorship and excellent communication skills.
