Relion is on a mission to advance sustainable transportation and reduce range anxiety for EV drivers. With 43% of charging sessions that are not optimal, painful or unsuccessful in North America, infrastructure availability is hurting the transition to renewable energy. EV chargers are multi-technological products that are complex to maintain, and we believe there is a better way.

About the role

As a Senior Product Designer reporting directly to the CTO, you will play a key role in shaping our product. You will work closely with :

• The product committee – gathering user insights and helping to chart the best course toward our business goals.
• A small team of senior engineers and product specialists who value design – together, designing user journeys for those keeping EV charging networks operational across North America.

You will learn the business. You will lead and evolve our existing design practice, including Relion’s nascent design system.

This is a hands-on, individual contributor role (UX team of 1) that calls for strong design skills across all areas of the craft : discovery, experience design, and user interface design. Expect complexity. Moving fast when needed. Refining details when it matters. Expect to develop your own ideas and elevate others'.

Key responsibilities

• Lead discovery initiatives to collect and manage user insights from manufacturers, infrastructure managers, electric and diagnostic engineers, etc.
• Facilitate collaborative problem solving, turning complex processes into smooth, relevant solutions.
• Ensure a consistent and rewarding user experience for a product that spans across many journeys and stakeholders.
• Design product solutions that feel premier level from flows to interface and visual design.
• Proactively raise our bar for quality, UX and UI wise. Keep making UX a differentiator for our product.
• Design to positively impact our customers' operations.
• Work hand in hand with our engineering team; be responsible for the form and function of the final product.
• Maintain and grow Relion’s design system and processes.

What you bring

• A proven experience within a tech organisation with a strong portfolio showcasing your work.
• Strong interface / interaction / visual skills. This is not a “UX only” role.
• A proactive, collaborative approach to problem-solving.
• Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and methodologies. Enough that you know when to apply them and when to diverge.
• Experience maintaining and growing a design system.
• Ability to think strategically and translate business goals into compelling design solutions.
• Experience working directly with engineers. Good understanding of tech opportunities and constraints.
• Experience conducting user research and usability testing initiatives.
• Exceptional collaboration and communication skills, paired with an entrepreneurial mind.
• Ability to own the outcome of your job. And improve.
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
• Proficiency in Figma, Adobe suite, sketching.

Assets

• Experience with other animation and prototyping tools.
• Experience within an early stage start-up (0 to 1).
• Experience designing data-driven apps and / or data-visualisation.
• Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field
• Interest in sustainability and technological innovations around the EV industry.
• Experience on industrial / B2B / complex projects.
• Familiarity with accessibility.
