Job description

Primero’s team is currently looking for aSenior Process Engineer. This is a unique opportunity to join our talented team and be part of Primero’s growth and success. Primero is an Australian founded company founded in 2011, established and rapidly growing in Montreal since 2016. We specialise in the design, procurement, and construction management of mineral processing plants. Primero’s mission is to become the engineering reference in lithium processing. We are proud to contribute directly to the world's electrification of transports.

As aSenior Process Engineer, you will be responsible for process engineering calculations, mass balances, establishing design criteria, development of flow-sheets and P&IDs. You will help with process design and other deliverable required by our clients by providing sound knowledge and understanding of the work methods and techniques applied in the design of processing facilities, outputs for studies and coordination with other disciplines. You will also help with the development and implementation of the metallurgical functions for Primero Americas. This is a permanent full-time position based in either our Montreal or Toronto office (Canada), reporting to the Process Engineering Manager. Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada at the time of application.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop process flow diagrams, P&IDs, design criteria, and technical specifications
  • Support equipment selection and process planning
  • Provide strategic guidance to engineering teams and ensure alignment with project objectives
  • Propose metallurgical solutions and plan process modifications
  • Participate in test work management, client requirement analysis, and plant performance follow-up
  • Contribute to internal policy reviews and ensure timely delivery of high-quality deliverables

Qualifications, Competencies, Skills & Experience we’re looking for :

  • Process/Chemical/Metallurgical Engineering Degree
  • Registered (or candidate for) P. Eng license with the OIQ or equi
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in engineering, operation and/or commissioning works
  • Experience in the mineral processing, metal refining, or related industries;
  • High level of analytical ability used to solve complex problems;
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with the firm’s personnel
  • Strong perception and implementation of HSE
  • Ability to be sufficiently flexible and resourceful to cope with the inherent load fluctuations of the Profession
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Provide assistance as needed or directed
  • Deliver a quality product on schedule
  • Possess a strong understanding of applicable codes of practice;
  • Ability to read and interpret specifications, schematics and engineering drawings;
