If you answered yes, our Chalk River location is looking for a Senior Prime Contracts Specialist to oversee the execution, management, and coordination of a complex, sensitive and diverse portfolio of CNL’s Prime Contracts (Contractor Contract, Site Operating Company Agreement, and the Whiteshell and Nuclear Power Demonstration (NPD) Target Cost Agreements). What will you be doing!
- Leading and maintaining the Prime Contracts Deliverables Matrix.
- Coordinating and leading the tracking of Contract deliverables and providing notification to responsible departments.
- Developing and drafting Contract Actions and Contract Notice Requirements based on contract clauses.
- Leading the review of drafted correspondence from Internal CNL departments.
- Leading the drafting of contractual correspondence for issue to the Client.
- Reviewing incoming Client correspondence, ensuring appropriate action is taken, and timely resolution of issues.
- Leading the improvement and management of Prime Contracts database and retrieval of correspondence.
- Reviewing Prime Contracts documents for issue to the Client, ensuring contractual compliance.
- Supporting the maintenance of confidential contract files and records.
- Leading in the development of Prime Contracts procedures and updates.
- Assisting and participating in the review of Client authority and direction relative to the Prime Contract clauses.
- Participating in, contributing to, and facilitating client contract meetings.
- Supporting the development of the Performance Evaluation and Measurement (PEM) Plan, in-year monitoring and reporting, support seeking relief, participating in client negotiations, and supporting the development of the annual Contractor Assessment Report.
- Executing highly complex, highly specialized professional work building a strategic long term collaborative relationship with the AECL client and achieving the successful implementation of the GoCo contract model.
- Continuously drives ever increasing value from the prime contracts.
- Making a critical contribution towards CNL’s Prime Contracts function.
- Building and maintaining strong working networks at all levels across CNL to achieve all contract deliverables and promptly and effectively resolve client issues, making authoritative recommendations, providing clear guidance and advice to all areas of CNL regarding successfully meeting contract obligations and client expectations. Responding to urgent Executive level requests for assistance, as required.

What we are looking for:
- Education
- A university degree/college diploma in economics, finance, business or a related discipline. OR
- Equivalent experience gained through a minimum of at least five (5) years comprehensive work experience in a business environment.
- Experience
- Experience in contract law and contract drafting.
- Experience in reviewing strategic issues/topics and developing and writing business plans, reports, presentation packages, briefing notes, correspondence, and annotated agendas.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of CNL’s corporate business practices and reporting and regulatory methodologies, processes, and tools.
- Has a sound understanding of the interaction of operations, projects, and supporting groups to fulfill site missions.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills to influence and direct stakeholders in all areas of the organization.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to analyze processes and impacts, provide recommendations and develop solutions.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, and work under pressure.
- Demonstrated excellent organization, planning, and execution skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills to achieve results not as an individual but as part of a collaborative team.
- A high working level knowledge of MS-Outlook, MS Office Suite, and SharePoint.
- Exhibits a strong strategic perspective, with an outside the box mentality that provides alternative viewpoints and solutions to existing practices in a respectful and constructive manner.
- Demonstrated interpersonal, communication, negotiation and presentation skills - must possess a professional attitude and be able to behave in a professional manner gauged to the situation.
- Strong leadership abilities, work ethic, sound judgment, tact and diplomacy.
- Ability to work effectively within the Prime Contracts and Corporate Strategy team, but at times independently, or in cross-functional teams.
- Ability to effectively interact at all levels within CNL and with the AECL client.
- Flexibility to work extended hours with limited notice.
- Flexibility to travel to other CNL sites, if required.
- Security Clearance Eligibility Required
- Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
