What is the opportunity?

The RBC GAM Private Markets investment platform includes Real Estate equity, Real Estate debt (Mortgage Investments), and Infrastructure equity solutions, accessible to a wide range of investors. As a senior leader within RBC Global Asset Management (GAM), you will oversee the Mortgage Investments platform (five funds with about $7 billion in AUM) and help develop its future growth globally. RBC GAM considers its real estate debt / mortgage fund platform a key private credit component of its comprehensive private market investment offerings.

Job Summary

Job Description

The successful candidate will have direct experience in mortgage investments across a broad credit risk spectrum, with strong relationship management skills within RBC and the real estate industry. The role involves client interaction across RBC’s wealth platform, including individual, high-net-worth, ultra-high-net-worth, institutional, domestic, and global clients.

Key Responsibilities

1. Manage and oversee all aspects of the RBC GAM mortgage investment platform, including performance of five strategies.
2. Support origination, underwriting, and approval of investment opportunities.
3. Oversee the loan origination process, manage channels, and maintain real estate industry relationships.
4. Monitor portfolio loan performance and renewals.
5. Develop a global growth plan for the platform, including launching new strategies.
6. Coordinate with RBC GAM and Wealth platform to ensure strategies are understood and accessible.
7. Mentor and oversee the mortgage investment team.
8. Collaborate on developing and executing a global growth strategy with senior Private Markets team members.

Minimum Qualifications

• At least 15 years of mortgage loan origination, underwriting, and deal execution experience.
• Knowledge of various real estate property types and geographies.
• Experience underwriting diverse credit risks, including conventional, high-yield, and construction loans.
• Proven leadership in managing high-performing teams.
• CFA or CIM designation, or registered Advising Representative with OSC.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the US CMBS market or US real estate industry.
• Experience in private credit or real estate equity investments.
• Fundraising and client-facing experience.
