Job description

The Cloud Platform Engineer has an engineering approach and the capability to explore & adopt new technology for efficiency, standard methodology, and productivity.

The ideal candidate will be working on automated provisioning of Azure cloud resources using Infrastructure as Code, and should have a good understanding of concepts of cloud like IaaS, PaaS, compute, storage, networking & analytics.

The Cloud Platform Engineer is expected to have solid knowledge and working experience on database technology such as MS SQL, PostgreSQL.

Working experience in database development or management is preferred.

The position will work under leadership from the Director, Platform Engineering as a part of Manulife Group Functions.

Location: CAN, Ontario, Toronto, 200 Bloor Street East

Hybrid 3 days (Tues., Wed., Thurs.)

Responsibilities
  • Work with the application teams to understand their infrastructure requirements & build the automated pipelines using cloud resources
  • Interact with Application business partners to define system requirements and necessary modifications to new or existing software.
  • Communicate with other developers and architects in implementing solutions that enable the business to be data-driven while protecting the data assets.
  • Communicates program progress, customer concerns, and issue analysis to critical team members.
  • Document solution artifacts, particularly process and functionality diagrams, and maintains their accuracy based on updates.

What we are looking for
  • BS or equivalent experience in Computer Science or an education degree in a related field is required
  • 5+ years of enterprise experience in similar work environment with hands-on experience working as Azure Cloud Engineer using tools like Terraform, Azure CLI & PowerShell.
  • Excellent understanding of concepts of cloud like IaaS, PaaS, compute, storage, networking & analytics.
  • Solid knowledge about database technology such as MS SQL, PostgreSQL. Good understanding of database concept, database structure, management, schema and object.
  • Azure cloud certification preferred with experience working both on Windows and Linux OS
  • Strong software development skills using object-oriented language like C# and scripting using Python Spark, Javascript framework (NodeJS)
  • Experience with tools & softwares like Git, Jenkins, VS Code.
  • Strong organizational and fixing skills with attention to detail and ability to work independently including excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills and the ability to optimally communicate designs, proposals, and results.

Salary range is expected to be between

$94,220.00 CAD - $174,980.00 CAD
