A fast-growing startup in the sustainability and infrastructure space is hiring a Senior Platform Engineer to help build and scale its core engineering systems. The company is backed by leading investors and is expanding rapidly across North America. Location: Hybrid – Kitchener / Waterloo (2 days / week in office)
Type: Full-time | Permanent
Compensation: CA$170K–CA$215K CAD base per year + early-stage equity

Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable, cloud-native infrastructure to support engineering and product development.
- Improve continuous integration and deployment pipelines, enabling faster and more reliable releases.
- Build automation and tooling to streamline deployments, track release cycles, and ensure smooth rollouts.
- Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to ensure reliability and performance.
- Develop internal tools and frameworks to boost developer efficiency and accelerate delivery.
- Apply security best practices and support compliance with relevant frameworks such as SoC, ISO, and GDPR.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of overall technical experience, including 5+ years in a platform, SRE, or infrastructure-focused role.
- Strong expertise with AWS and containerized environments (Fargate, Kubernetes).
- Experience designing and maintaining CI / CD pipelines using modern tooling.
- Proficiency with observability and monitoring tools (e.g., Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana).
- Deep understanding of scaling strategies, high-availability architectures, and distributed systems.
- Strong scripting and automation skills in Python, Bash, or TypeScript.
- Knowledge of security best practices and familiarity with compliance frameworks is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively across teams in a fast-paced environment.
