Job summary

Rippling is seeking a Senior Staff Engineer to define the future of its core platform and AI infrastructure. This technical leadership role focuses on distributed systems, platform primitives, and scalable architecture that enables AI experiences across the company.

You will shape architecture, collaborate with senior leaders, and mentor engineers to build foundational systems that power HR, IT, Finance, and Operations products.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience at Staff or Senior Staff level.
• Experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience developing platform infrastructure, shared services, or foundational engineering systems.
• Proven ability to lead complex technical initiatives across large engineering organizations.
• Strong architectural judgment and a track record of scalable systems.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a senior technical leader within Rippling’s engineering organization.
• Define and drive the long-term architecture of core platform systems powering dozens of products and hundreds of engineers.
• Design highly scalable, reliable, and extensible distributed systems that serve as foundational building blocks across the company.
• Lead large, cross-organizational initiatives spanning multiple teams, products, and domains.
• Translate ambiguous business and product requirements into elegant, durable technical solutions.
• Drive architectural decisions that influence the evolution of Rippling’s Business Operating System.
• Partner with senior engineering leaders to shape platform strategy and technical direction.
• Build infrastructure enabling AI systems to securely interact with live business data, workflows, and systems.
• Develop core platform primitives to accelerate product development across the company.
• Raise the engineering bar through mentorship, design reviews, and operational excellence.
• Act as the DRI for critical technical initiatives.
• Help define how platform infrastructure evolves to support intelligent software.
