Job summary

Sturgeon County is seeking a Senior Planner to manage complex current planning applications, including statutory plan amendments and subdivision reviews, ensuring compliance with legislation and County policies. Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of Alberta’s municipal planning framework (MGA, S&R) and related regulations.
• Advanced knowledge of land use planning, development review, and statutory plans.
• Experience reading maps, plans, and technical reports.
• Ability to mentor staff and manage multiple projects.
• Strong written and verbal communication, including public presentations.

Responsibilities

• Manage complex current planning applications including amendments and subdivisions.
• Prepare planning reports, recommendations, and presentations.
• Lead high-profile applications with stakeholders and interdepartmental collaboration.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to planning staff.
• Contribute to policy projects and stakeholder engagement initiatives.
