Job summary

AtkinsRéalis Canada Inc. is seeking a Senior Planner in Toronto to lead the project planning strategy and schedule integration across disciplines, ensuring alignment with cost and EVM.

You will mentor junior planners and drive continuous improvement in tools and processes. You will work in a hybrid environment with senior client exposure, EPCM context, and bilingual collaboration between French and English teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree is required; a degree in Engineering is preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in project planning and scheduling.
  • Experience supporting EPCM projects is a strong asset.
  • Experience working on mining and metallurgy projects.
  • Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 with strong knowledge of integrated project controls systems and processes.
  • Strong expertise in critical path analysis, EVM, schedule risk analysis, and delay analysis methodologies.
  • Bilingualism in French and English is a significant asset.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of the overall project planning and scheduling strategy.
  • Ensure full schedule integration across engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities.
  • Align schedule with cost, progress measurement, and Earned Value Management (EVM).
  • Prepare and validate executive dashboards, client reports, and progress narratives.
  • Provide clear, actionable insights to Project Directors, senior management, and clients regarding schedule risks and opportunities.
  • Evaluate the schedule impacts of scope changes, variations, and claims, including time impact and delay analyses / support claim avoidance and dispute resolution.
  • Provide technical leadership, coaching, and mentoring to junior planners / contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including tools, templates, lessons learned, and best practices.

We are seeking a Senior Planner to join our Minerals & Metals Department. The successful candidate will report to the Planning & Scheduling Department. The person in this position will work closely with all disciplines and project Managers to manage all planning & Scheduling subjects. This role will be based in Toronto, Ontario.

Your role: Lead the development of the overall project planning and scheduling strategy, including schedule structure, logic, phasing, milestones, and integration across disciplines. Ensure full schedule integration across engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities. Ensure alignment between schedule, cost, progress measurement, and Earned Value Management (EVM) systems. Support the preparation and validation of executive level dashboards, client reports, and progress narratives. Provide clear, actionable insights to Project Directors, senior management, and clients regarding schedule risks and opportunities. Evaluate the schedule impacts of scope changes, variations, and claims, including time impact and delay analyses / support claim avoidance and dispute resolution by providing robust schedule logic, documentation, and analysis. Provide technical leadership, coaching, and mentoring to junior and intermediate planners/ contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including tools, templates, lessons learned, and best practices.

About you: Bachelor’s degree is required; a degree in Engineering is preferred. 10+ years of experience in project planning and scheduling. Previous experience supporting EPCM projects is considered a strong asset. Previous experience working on mining and metallurgy projects. Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6, with strong knowledge of integrated project controls systems and processes. Strong expertise in critical path analysis, Earned Value Management (EVM), schedule risk analysis, and delay analysis methodologies. Proven ability to work effectively and confidently with clients, executive stakeholders, and project leadership teams. Written and spoken bilingualism in French and English is considered a significant asset.

Expected compensation for this role is (between Pay Range $125,000 - $150,000 annually) (Only Applicable to Ontario). Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role.
