  • Create and/or select piping line class specifications for new or upgraded piping systems, complete with all calculations required for governing jurisdiction acceptance.
  • Perform engineering calculations including minimum pipe wall thickness, flange leakage, flange rating, bolted joint analysis, reinforcing pad design, and pressure-relieving device reactions.
  • Complete load transmittal forms, submit and review with engineering disciplines, as required.
  • Creation of item codes for piping line class specification complete with long description and maintenance of the commodity code system.
  • Provide design engineering input on piping configuration/routing, support types and locations, tie-ins, specifications, and fabrication/installation details to the piping design team, working in an AutoCAD/Plant3D design environment.
  • Prepare and check static and dynamic pipe stress analysis using Caesar II or AutoPIPE, to inform pipe routing, supports and restraints, equipment nozzle loading, and specification of engineered supports, expansion joints, flexible hoses, and other specialty fittings. Perform equipment nozzle checks/qualifications (static and rotating equipment) as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines and Irving Oil stakeholders to integrate piping requirements and issues into overall project designs.
  • Collaborate on project work and studies with 3rd party consultants, technology licensors, vendors and fabricators, and engineering contractors.
  • Support construction activities on site, including periodic reviews during construction.
  • Support the Piping Group Lead on project planning efforts, contributing to engineering scoping, scheduling and estimating, and project material take-offs for capital cost estimating.
  • Work with the Piping Group Lead and organization peers to identify and execute continuous improvement initiatives to raise technical capability, productivity, and compliance.
Your Skills:
  • Strong analytical skills, paired with creative and collaborative problem-solving aptitude.
  • Proven ability to engage with stakeholders including senior leaders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
