Job summary

Kent is seeking a Senior Piping Designer to join our Engineering team in Calgary. The successful candidate will provide senior-level piping design expertise and produce safe, accurate, constructible deliverables in collaboration with engineering and project teams. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible employee position anticipated at 40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Diploma or certificate in engineering design and drafting, mechanical technology, or a related discipline; an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
• Typically, 20 or more years of progressive piping design experience, preferably in industrial, energy, petrochemical, refining, or related facilities.
• Experience working within a global workshare environment is preferred and willingness to coordinate design activities across time zones.
• Strong working knowledge of piping design practices, applicable codes and standards, and the preparation of piping drawings and deliverables.
• Proficiency with 3D plant design and drafting software; experience with AutoCAD Plant 3D, E3D, S3D or comparable systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop and revise piping layouts, plot plans, equipment arrangements, isometrics, and related design deliverables.
• Prepare and maintain 3D piping models and 2D drawings in accordance with project specifications and standards.
• Interpret P&IDs, line lists, equipment data, vendor drawings, specifications, and engineering information to produce coordinated designs.
• Coordinate piping design interfaces with process, mechanical, civil/structural, electrical, instrumentation, stress, and construction teams.
• Perform field verification, site measurements, walkdowns, and model reviews as required.
• Identify design conflicts and communicate impacts to the appropriate discipline lead.
• Provide guidance and technical support to intermediate and junior designers.
