Job summary

Lightmatter is redefining AI data center hardware with photonics, aiming to deliver a ground-breaking photonic-based communication fabric. The Photonics Architect will define micro-architecture and top-level layout, partnering with engineering teams to optimize power, performance and area for next-generation products.

The role reports to the Sr. Director of Architecture and requires strong communication, deep photonics expertise, and the ability to work across photonic, analog, and engineering

Qualifications

• PhD in EE, physics or photonics.
• Experience with silicon photonics components.
• Ability to collaborate across disciplines.
• Experience with photonic simulation tools (FDTD, Verilog-A, VPI Photonics).

Responsibilities

• Propose innovative photonic designs—modulators, receivers, multiplexers, lasers, amplifiers for the product.
• Work closely with photonic engineering to provide performance, power, and area estimates.
• Collaborate with analog engineering to deliver high-bandwidth interconnect solutions.
• Author, review, and validate architectural specifications.
