Job summary

Calgary Health Foundation is seeking a Senior Philanthropy Advisor, Corporations & Foundations, to advance partnerships with corporate and foundation donors and to grow a sustainable giving program. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (business, communications, marketing, public relations).
• 5+ years' direct fundraising, corporate partnership, business development, or sales experience with a track record of securing five- and six-figure commitments.
• Demonstrated experience writing successful grant applications and funding proposals.
• Familiarity with corporate social responsibility and community investment trends.
• Working knowledge of CRA guidelines related to charitable gifts, grants, and receipting is an asset.
• Experience with donor/client relationship databases such as Raiser's Edge NXT is highly desirable.

THE OPPORTUNITY: Senior Philanthropy Advisor, Corporations & Foundations

As our Senior Philanthropy Advisor, Corporations & Foundations, you play an important role in advancing the mission of Calgary Health Foundation by building partnerships within the corporate and foundation community to generate significant, sustained philanthropic support. Managing a portfolio of approximately 80-120 prospects and donors, including businesses, corporate, public and private foundations and grantmaking organizations, you will play a leading role in growing a dynamic giving portfolio through active identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies and tactics.

Key accountabilities of the role include:

• Design and implement a corporate and foundation giving strategy, establishing the priorities, prospect pipeline, partnership approach, and measures of success needed to build a sustainable program.
• Actively manage and grow a portfolio of 80-120 corporate and foundation donors and prospects, in collaboration with our research team, with a focus on major ($10,000-$999,999) and principal ($1,000,000+) gifts.
• Identify philanthropic interests and align partner objectives with the Foundation's priorities,including focus on opportunities to deepen corporate relationships beyond a single gift.
• Develop compelling, customized proposals, letters of inquiry, and grant applications that connect funder priorities to the Foundation's areas of greatest need and impact and structure and negotiate multi-year commitments, pledge agreements, and arrangements, ensuring terms are clearly documented.
• Manage the full grant lifecycle, including tracking application and reporting deadlines, coordinating with internal stakeholders to gather program and financial information, and ensuring accurate, timely impact reporting that meets funder requirements.
• In partnership with Donor Relations, build stewardship strategies for qualified corporate and foundation partners and ensure that all donors in the portfolio are recognized according to the relevant donor recognition vehicles.
• Identify, engage, coach, and support influential community and business leaders in fundraising activities.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate has proven success securing significant gifts and partnerships from corporations and foundations, is highly organized, takes initiative, and works equally well independently as well as collaboratively with others. Possessing exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, strong writing ability, an analytical mindset with strong problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to accurately manage multiple proposals and reporting deadlines at once, the successful candidate will bring creativity and energy to grow and sustain partner engagement and commitment.

• A minimum of 5 years' direct fundraising, corporate partnership, business development, or sales experience, with a track record of securing five- and six-figure commitments.
• Demonstrated experience writing successful grant applications and funding proposals.
• Familiarity with corporate social responsibility and community investment trends, and an understanding of how businesses evaluate philanthropic partnerships.
• Working knowledge of CRA guidelines as they relate to charitable gifts, grants, and receipting is an asset.
• Experience with donor/client relationship databases such as Raiser's Edge NXT is highly desirable.

OTHER INFORMATION

It is expected that the starting salary for this position will be in the range of $95,000 - $105,000, aligned with the successful candidate's experience and skill set.
