Job summary

Michels Canada is seeking a Payroll Manager to lead payroll operations across the organization, including processing, reporting, and union remittances in a complex construction environment. The role requires a degree in Accounting/Finance/HR, 10+ years of payroll experience, Canadian payroll knowledge, and strong leadership.

You will collaborate with HR and Finance to ensure compliance and drive continuous improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related discipline; equivalency considered.
• Minimum 10 years of progressive payroll experience, including union payrolls.
• Knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation, remittances, and year-end reporting.

Responsibilities

• Oversee end-to-end payroll operations and ensure accuracy and timely processing.
• Lead and develop the payroll team through coaching and performance management.
• Ensure compliance with federal and provincial legislation and collective agreements.
• Manage direct deposit, remittances, year-end filings, and reporting.
• Collaborate with HR, Finance, and operations to support compensation and taxation.
• Identify process improvements and lead system implementation projects.
