Job description

Senior Pastor
Lacombe First Baptist is seeking a Senior Pastor, who is called by God, to shepherd its growing congregation. The average attendance is 200, with approximately half under the age of eighteen.
The church has been part of the community of Lacombe, Alberta for over 100 years.
It is affiliated with the Canadian Baptists of Western Canada.

Lacombe has a population of 14,000 and is located in Central Alberta, 30 minutes north of Red Deer.
The city offers small town values with a wide variety of services and amenities.

Qualifications:
The Senior Pastor will have:

  1. Accreditation with a convention associated with Canadian Baptist Ministries, or have credentials that would be acceptable for accreditation;
  2. A passion for discipleship and outreach;
  3. Spiritual gifts in preaching, teaching, and training of lay leaders;
  4. Motivation to lead and shepherd, while working as a team player within the board structure;
  5. An attitude of compassion and humility, reaching out to the multi-generational congregation and applying the Word of God to their lives.

Responsibilities:

  1. Present weekly sermons based on sound biblical doctrine, and devotionals as required.
  2. By example and teaching, provide spiritual leadership to staff and the church body.
  3. Support the work of ministry teams, committees, and lay leaders.
  4. Work with church leadership in vision, planning, and policy.
  5. Be involved with the leadership in a program of visitation among church families.
  6. Facilitate the resolution of conflicts and problems involving staff, members, and adherents in accordance with the Constitution and Bylaws.
  7. Establish regular hours in the church office.
  8. Update the Ministry Management Board and the Board of Elders regarding activities, issues, and needs of the congregation.
