Job description

This position is for a Senior Project Engineer in the P&C Engineering Division. Specific P&C design and leadership/coordination experience is required, ideally in Transmission projects. Engineers may take on a Project Engineer or an Owner's Engineer role, depending on the project.

In the Project Engineer role, responsibilities include managing the engineering scope, schedule, and cost of large or complex projects with significant profile, complexity, and risk. Projects may involve work designed internally, externally, or a combination of both. High voltage utility P&C design experience is required.

What you will be doing:

  • Perform the Owner's Engineer role on projects where some or all of the engineering work is done by third parties such as consultants or equipment vendors.
  • Coordinate and lead the internal review and acceptance of work designed by third parties.
  • Work with functional managers on resource assignments to meet project needs.
  • Handle projects including transmission system protection, control, SCADA, transmission interconnection with P&C or tele-protection focus, and compliance projects affecting transmission P&C or Tele-protection systems.
  • Collaborate with project managers to manage scope, schedule, and cost, and oversee technical risks, system integration, and other issues.
  • Perform other duties as required.

What you need to have:

  • Minimum ten (10) years of substation engineering experience in the electrical utility industry, with a relevant degree (electrical, civil, structural).
  • At least four (4) years of experience leading multi-discipline design teams and working with protection, control, and telecom systems.
  • Professional Engineer registration with EGBC.
  • Strong electric utility engineering background with a transmission system and operations perspective, understanding multi-discipline project interactions and priorities.
  • Good knowledge of project management principles.
  • Knowledge of design and transmission lines is an asset.

This role requires attendance at client workplaces and is subject to the company's Contractor Vaccination Policy, requiring full vaccination by January 10, 2022, or prior to the start date.

Initial 2-year contract with potential extension based on workload and performance.
