Senior PTE Field Technician

Roles and Responsibilities
- Perform testing and commissioning of Protection and Control systems on high voltage substations.
- Perform, or supervise, on-site protective relay testing using relay test sets such as Omicron CMC 256 / 356 or Doble F6150. Relays include SEL-311L, SEL-387, SEL-487, SEL-421, SEL-351S, GE L90, GE D60, among others.
- Contribute to technical and safety development.
- Support Project Lead or Field Supervisor on projects.
- Perform Job Hazard Analysis (JHA).
- Accurately document test results and produce field reports in requested formats.
- Read and understand electrical drawings and schematics.
- Handle clerical responsibilities such as timecards, expense reports, and project reports.
Required Education / Experience
- Five to ten (5-10) years of professional experience in the electrical testing industry, including medium and high voltage circuit breakers, power transformers, instrument transformers, and substation protection and controls testing.
- Expertise in transmission, generation, and distribution relays (SEL, Basler, Beckwith, GE) and protective schemes.
- Skills in relay calibration, control scheme testing, sensing CT / PT circuits testing, uploading settings to microprocessor relays, and static & dynamic testing of microprocessor-based relays.
- Experience with Electrical Field-Testing standards such as NETA, IEEE, NFPA.
- Knowledge of testing electrical distribution, generation, and transmission projects from 15 kV to 500 kV.
- Good interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills and mathematical ability.
- Proficiency with computer systems, relay software, and project management tools.
- Experience with computer-controlled solid-state test equipment (Omicron, Doble).
- Familiarity with testing software: ProTesT, Protection Suite, ENOSERV RTS, Omicron Test Universe, AcSELerator Quickset.
- Proficiency with MS Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
- Ability to manage electrical drawings.
- Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift 50+ lbs.
- Regional travel up to 90%.
Desired Education / Experience
- Associate of Science in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
- Experience testing and troubleshooting electromechanical relays.
- Experience testing and commissioning high voltage equipment such as CTs, CCVTs, PLC systems, batteries, and chargers.

Base Salary Range: $100,000 - $150,000 per year
This range complies with state and local regulations and is based on experience, knowledge, and education. It does not include additional compensation such as bonuses, benefits, or 401(k) matching.
