Job summary

CIMA+ is seeking a Senior Protection and Control (P&C) Engineer to join our Western Canada team. You will work on large electrical energy projects including substations and renewable energy facilities, collaborating with experienced professionals across Canada.

The role offers opportunities to shape design solutions in a multidisciplinary, entrepreneurial environment. This position requires a university degree in electrical engineering, Canadian professional licensure, and 12+ years of relevant

Qualifications

  • University degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
  • Registration with a Canadian Professional Engineering Association (e.g., EBGC/PEO) is preferred.
  • Minimum 12 years of relevant experience in protection and control design.
  • Fluent English (spoken and written) is mandatory.
  • Experience with electrical power systems and substations is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Design and review Control and Protection systems for utility and industrial projects.
  • Approve and review project deliverables including one-line diagrams and wiring diagrams.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams and project managers from other disciplines.
  • Prepare project plans, drawings, and calculations per specifications.
  • Develop protection and control systems including single-line and relay coordination diagrams.
  • Supervise joiner engineers and provide guidance as needed.
  • Prepare commissioning specifications and field review plans.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines to deliver optimized substation solutions.

AsaSeniorProtection and Control (P&C) Engineer, you will beworking with a team of P&C detailed designersand contribute to large-scale electrical energy projects. You will evolve in a multidisciplinary environment and develop skills by collaborating with experienced professionals, particularly on substation, hydroelectric power station, and renewable energy projects, with numerousclients across Canada.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design and review Control and Protection systemsfor both utility and industry projects
  • Approveand reviewproject deliverables, including detaildesigndrawings,P&Cone linediagrams,panellayouts,cablescheduleandequipment sizing, etc.
  • Collaborate with members of the engineering team as well as project managers from other disciplines
  • Prepareprojectplans, drawings and calculations based on specifications provided
  • Responsible of the development of electricalControland Protection systems, including single-line diagrams, logic diagrams, three-line AC diagrams,protectionand c.c. control diagrams, wiring drawings, device connection drawings, assembly plans, material lists and quotes for the manufacturing and installation on site of Control and Protection panels
  • Supervise the development of AC and DC power systems, including single-line diagrams, AC & DC load calculations, AC & DC distribution diagrams, connection drawings of chargers, batteries, inverter, etc.
  • Participate in site surveys (stations and power stations)
  • Coordinating with other discipline as the Protection and control project engineer
  • Performing protection coordination study, relaysettingsand logic files
  • Supervising on the joiner engineers work and deliverables and provideguidanceto them
  • Prepare commissioning specifications, field review plan and andNERC CIPdocuments
  • Coordinate with engineering disciplines: equipment, civil,mechanicaland buildingin order todevelop design solutions for optimized and advanced substation and power plant systems
  • Possibility of carrying out site work sporadically when the opportunity arises (start-up or monitoring)
Qualifications
  • University Degree in Electrical engineering
  • Registered (or eligible to register as) member of Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EBGC) or that of a recognized Professional Engineering Association in Canada
  • More than12years of relevant experience
  • Good knowledge of protection and control principles and philosophies is mandatory
  • Work experience in the design of electrical systems
  • 4+years experiencein detailed P&C design with major and/or local utilities in Canada
  • Fluent in English (oral and written)
  • Basic knowledge of the office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Autonomous, resourceful, and enjoys teamwork
