Job summary

CIMA+ is seeking a Senior Protection and Control (P&C) Engineer to join our Western Canada energy projects team. You will design, review and implement protection and control systems for large substations, hydroelectric stations and renewable projects across Canada.

You will work with a multidisciplinary group, contribute to commissioning specifications, and collaborate with other disciplines to deliver innovative, reliable electrical solutions.

Qualifications

  • University degree in electrical engineering required.
  • Registered (or eligible) with Engineers and Geoscientists BC or an equivalent Canadian body.
  • 12+ years of relevant experience.
  • Fluent in English (oral and written).
  • 4+ years in detailed P&C design with major or local utilities in Canada.
  • Autonomous, resourceful and a team player.

Responsibilities

  • Design and review protection and control systems for utility and industry projects.
  • Approve project deliverables including detailed design drawings and relay/one-line diagrams.
  • Collaborate with engineering team members and project managers from other disciplines.
  • Prepare project plans, drawings and calculations based on provided specifications.
  • Develop electrical protection and control systems including diagrams, wiring drawings and equipment sizing.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines to develop optimized substation and power plant designs.
  • Possibly perform site work for startup or monitoring.

AsaSeniorProtection and Control (P&C) Engineer, you will beworking witha team of P&C detailed designersand contribute to large-scale electrical energy projects. You will evolve in a multidisciplinary environment and develop skills by collaborating with experienced professionals, particularly on substation, hydroelectric power station, and renewable energy projects, withnumerousclients across Canada.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design and review Control and Protection systemsfor both utility and industry projects
  • Approveand reviewproject deliverables, including detaildesigndrawings,P&Cone linediagrams,panellayouts,cablescheduleandequipment sizing, etc.
  • Collaborate with members of the engineering team as well as project managers from other disciplines
  • Prepareprojectplans, drawings and calculations based on specifications provided
  • Responsible of the development of electricalControland Protection systems, including single-line diagrams, logic diagrams, three-line AC diagrams,protectionand c.c. control diagrams, wiring drawings, device connection drawings, assembly plans, material lists and quotes for the manufacturing and installation on site of Control and Protection panels
  • Supervise the development of AC and DC power systems, including single-line diagrams, AC & DC load calculations, AC & DC distribution diagrams, connection drawings of chargers, batteries, inverter, etc.
  • Participate in site surveys (stations and power stations)
  • Coordinating with other discipline as the Protection and control project engineer
  • Performing protection coordination study, relaysettingsand logic files
  • Supervising on the joiner engineers work and deliverables and provideguidanceto them
  • Prepare commissioning specifications, field review plan and andNERC CIPdocuments
  • Coordinate with engineering disciplines: equipment, civil,mechanicaland buildingin order todevelop design solutions for optimized and advanced substation and power plant systems
  • Possibility of carrying out site work sporadically when the opportunity arises (start-up or monitoring)
Qualifications
  • University Degree in Electrical engineering
  • Registered (or eligible to register as) member of Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EBGC) or that of a recognized Professional Engineering Association in Canada
  • More than12years of relevant experience
  • Good knowledge of protection and control principles and philosophies is mandatory
  • Work experience in the design of electrical systems
  • 4+years experiencein detailed P&C design with major and/or local utilities in Canada
  • Fluent in English (oral and written)
  • Basic knowledge of the office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Autonomous, resourceful, and enjoys teamwork
  • Integrity, team spirit, and a commitment to excellence
