Job summary

HDI Global SE Canada is looking for a Senior/Executive Property Underwriter in Toronto to drive profitable growth across our commercial property portfolio, with a focus on power, energy and mining sectors. You will own the end-to-end underwriting lifecycle, strengthen broker relationships, and collaborate with Head Office in Germany to align risk appetite.

The role requires 7+ years of underwriting experience, a Bachelor's degree and CIP, with FCIP preferred.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of underwriting experience in commercial property.
• Bachelor's degree and CIP designation required; FCIP designation preferred.
• Excellent technical underwriting expertise with strong analytical and negotiation skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to manage broker relationships.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite a portfolio of commercial property risks with a focus on power, energy and mining; ensure profitable growth and strong risk selection.
• Drive national portfolio growth by owning the end-to-end underwriting lifecycle and strengthening broker relationships.
• Represent the Property product line and collaborate across functions to refine underwriting practices and share knowledge internally.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with Canadian brokers and Head Office colleagues in Germany to align underwriting strategy and appetite.

Your Responsibilities

Underwrite a portfolio of commercial property risks, with a focus on power, energy and mining,ensuring profitable growth and strong risk selection.

Drive national portfolio growth by owning the end-to-end underwriting lifecycle, strengtheningbroker and client relationships, and actively managing portfolio performance.

Represent the Property product line in the market; partner across functions to refine underwritingpractices; and share knowledge internally to support continuous improvement and cross-selling

Build and maintain strong working relationships with our broker partners and customers in Canadaand also with Head Office colleagues in Germany to align underwriting strategy and appetite,strengthen service delivery, and support profitable growth.

Your Profile (Skills, Qualifications & Experience)

Minimum 7 years of underwriting experience handling commercial property risks. Bachelor's degree and CIP designation required; FCIP designation preferred. Excellent technical underwriting expertise with strong analytical skills. Strong negotiation and relationship-management skills. Ability to communicate underwriting strategy and decisions clearly, internally and externally. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. French and/or German language skills are considered an asset. Entrepreneurial, proactive, and self-motivated. Positive, growth-oriented mindset with a collaborative approach.

What We Offer

Salary range is $150,000 - $200,000, plus bonus opportunity. Competitive total rewards package and professional development support.
