Job Purpose

The Senior Optical Process Engineer, within our product solutions development team, provides process engineering solutions supporting product development, NPI, and manufacturing of various optical product families.

We seek an experienced Optical Process Engineer with a focus on active optical alignment to collaborate with our global product development team, aiming to develop and implement advanced opto/microelectronic components, modules, and sub-systems into manufacturing.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with optical design and development teams to provide process solutions for new products, NPI, and manufacturing support.
  • Support research and development of new optical process technologies.
  • Manage projects and timelines to meet customer milestones.
  • Develop active alignment recipes for automated systems for applications like free space optics, gratings, coupling, and fiber arrays.
  • Troubleshoot process performance issues and guide less experienced team members.
  • Conduct research into complex engineering problems to develop new processes and policies.
  • Assist in creating process assembly documentation and tooling concepts.
  • Qualify new processes and implement engineering changes.
  • Research, procure, and evaluate new equipment for evolving technologies.
  • Support customer NPI builds within tight timelines.
  • Provide DFx feedback to optimize manufacturability, yield, and throughput.
Education & Experience
  • University degree in Engineering.
  • 8+ years in Process or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Experience with active optical alignment, especially with ficonTEC aligners.
  • Proficiency in equipment programming and automation.
  • Strong background in process control, electronics assembly, and engineering change implementation.
  • Additional assets include experience with LabVIEW, laser welding, AutoCAD/SolidWorks, lean manufacturing, DFM, FMEA, and Microsoft Office.
