Project
The Woodfibre LNG Project is located approximately 7 km west-southwest of Squamish, British Columbia. It involves the construction and operation of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility on the previous Woodfibre pulp mill site, with a storage capacity of 250,000 m3 and an annual LNG production of approximately 2.1 million tons.

Position
The Sr Operations Technician - DCS Process is a key member of Woodfibre LNG's team. The successful candidate reports directly to the Shift Superintendent. This role is based on-site in Squamish, BC, supporting the operations team through various project phases, including design development, construction, CSU, and operational phases. During the operational phase, as a DCS Process Panel Operator on shift, you will monitor process conditions and take actions to ensure safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible plant operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend DCS Graphic Builds, ICSS FAT and SATs, OTS FATs SATs, Alarm Rationalization Workshops, HAZOPS, 3D Model reviews, P&ID verification, and detailed engineering reviews during project and CSU phases.
- Lead development of standard operating procedures for the LNG process area.
- Contribute to site-wide operating procedures and training materials.
- Support operability, maintainability, safety, and environmental aspects of LNG facility operation.
- Oversee control panel operations during CSU and operational phases, directing field operations for safety and efficiency.
- Support commissioning through loop checking and testing of DCS and safety systems.
- Interface with project staff, contractors, and management during commissioning and startup.
- Proactively monitor plant operation and equipment performance to mitigate threats during shifts.
- Support permit to work processes, including improvements, standards, and compliance.
- Ensure equipment and plant sections are correctly isolated and safe for maintenance handover.
- Develop and implement checklists and routines for plant and equipment.
- Prepare and deliver daily shift reports for safe handover.
- Coordinate with engineering, HSSE, and other departments for monitoring, compliance, and support.
- Implement best practices and coach peers in panel operation competencies.
- Contribute to plant risk management and mitigation tracking.
HSSE
- Maintain 100% compliance with HSE policies.
- Lead HSE initiatives as part of the operations team.
- Conduct safety walks, audits, and safety meetings.
- Intervene to mitigate risks and ensure safety.
- Promote safety culture and safeguard systems checks.
- Support emergency response readiness during shifts.
- Encourage safe work practices for maintenance.
Requirements
Experience
- 3-5 years LNG experience; minimum 10 years in oil & gas production facilities; APCI LNG technology preferred.
- 4th Class Power Engineering diploma or higher.
- Experience as LNG DCS Process Panel Operator.
- Experience during project phases including commissioning and start-up.
- Experience in emergency response teams.
- Knowledge of safe work management via Permit to Work system.

Benefits
