This role can be based out of one of our main offices including: Stellarton, NS; Mississauga, ON; Calgary, AB; Montreal, QC.

Here’s Where You’ll Be Focusing

As a Senior Network Specialist with Sobeys, you will:

  • Lead the Network Services Team in the implementation, management, maintenance, and enhancement of the Sobeys National Network.
  • Promote and use the Network Services processes, procedures, methods, skills, tools, and infrastructure to support the National Network.
  • Respond to user’s network requests related to data and WiFi.
  • Coordinate day-to-day operations of the Team supporting the Sobeys National Network, including infrastructure installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Support all wide-area network sites, including regional offices and retail support centers.
  • Implement and support routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) in a multi-site network.
  • Partner with architecture and operations teams to ensure uptime and service quality.
  • Perform site surveys, capacity planning, and upgrades at critical locations.
  • Project manage the rollout of network infrastructure.
  • Support the closure of risks and controls.
  • Document network designs, standards, and procedures.
  • Lead and assign daily work to the team.
  • Perform second-level problem resolution within the WAN.
  • Liaise with vendors for cost-effective technology solutions.
  • Make recommendations to improve service and support.
  • Coordinate hardware/software repairs, warranty, and scheduled maintenance.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools for network problem analysis.
  • Test solutions in a lab environment prior to rollout.
  • Act as a design lead, researching and proposing new technological solutions.
  • Be available for incidents off-hours and on-call support.
What You Have To Offer

Your experience and resume will show us:

  • An Undergraduate Degree and at least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with data, voice, video, and RF technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience with Cisco Equipment and IOS.
  • Experience with monitoring and management tools.
  • Deep understanding of Layer 2/3 networking and routing protocols.
  • Managing enterprise wireless networks experience.
  • Familiarity with SNMP and configuration management tools.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Certifications such as CCNP, CCNA, or working towards CCIE.
