We are looking for a Senior Network Engineer to work with one of our clients, an international bank based in Montreal.

Position Overview

The Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for the design, deployment, support, and management of the organization's network infrastructure across datacenter, campus, and WAN environments. Candidates must have a well-rounded background across network technologies, a strong grasp of networking fundamentals, and hands‑on experience in complex multi‑vendor environments.

The role requires the ability to understand intricate combinations of infrastructure technologies and operating systems, and to design, implement, and maintain network solutions accordingly.

At this seniority level, experience with financial markets technologies is expected, particularly around multicast and low‑latency platforms and architectures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Level 2 and Level 3 support for enterprise WiFi, LAN, MAN, and WAN infrastructure
  • Partner with project management, architecture, and application support teams to gather network requirements and deploy supporting infrastructure
  • Collaborate with infrastructure engineering and support teams to troubleshoot complex, cross platform issues
  • Use service management and network monitoring platforms for alerting, monitoring, and incident tracking
  • Adhere to asset and configuration management standards
  • Follow internal governance policies, including security and broader IT compliance requirements
  • Maintain alignment with technology standards defined at both local and global levels
  • Design and implement new networks or improve existing ones in line with project guidelines
  • Proactively assess the environment and propose initiatives based on capacity trends, resiliency gaps, hardware lifecycle, and risk evaluation
  • Participate in on‑call rotation for after‑hours escalations
  • Apply and uphold internal policies and procedures consistently
Required Skills and Experience
  • Degree in computer science, information technology, or equivalent professional experience
  • Familiarity with multiple operating systems, monitoring tools, and automation platforms (e.g. Zabbix, ServiceNow, HP Network Automation, Windows, Linux, Ansible, Python)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including graphs, VLOOKUP, and pivot tables
  • Detail‑oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross‑functional, globally distributed team
  • Strong problem‑solving mindset with a drive to learn and adapt to evolving technologies
  • Good interpersonal skills and a customer‑focused approach
  • Ability to produce and maintain technical documentation and network diagrams
  • Solid understanding of core networking concepts: TCP/IP, UDP, ports and protocols, IP addressing and subnetting
  • Knowledge of network security controls, zero trust architecture, and DDoS mitigation
  • Experience with traffic analysis tools (Wireshark, tcpdump), telemetry, and log analysis
  • In‑depth knowledge of Metro Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, DWDM, and TDM technologies
  • Strong command of routing protocols including BGP, OSPF, IS‑IS, MPLS, VXLAN, DHCP, and DNS; detailed understanding of IP Multicast, PIM, IGMP, and MSDP
  • Hands‑on experience with optical transport systems supporting 10G, 40G, 100G, and FC
  • Familiarity with enterprise‑grade switching and routing platforms from leading vendors
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non‑technical stakeholders
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure during business‑critical incidents
