Job description

Core Network Specialist – Global Multi-Strategy Trading Firm (Montreal)

A highly selective, globally leading multi-strategy trading firm, renowned for engineering-driven innovation and consistently delivering exceptional performance across major markets. They’ve built a culture where small, elite teams of engineers directly impact trading outcomes, designing systems that are both high-performing and low-latency.

They’re currently expanding their global networking organisation, recently restructured into specialist sub-teams to scale with the firm’s rapid growth. This role sits within the Core Networking Team, responsible for designing, scaling, and evolving the backbone of their multi-tenant network across global offices, data centres, and hybrid cloud environments.

The mission: deliver the next generation of high-performance, fault-tolerant, and fully automated infrastructure underpinning all trading, research, and data operations across the firm. You’ll be deeply involved in strategic network design and global deployments.

Responsibilities:

  • Implementing and standardising EVPN, BGP, VXLAN, and Spine-Leaf architectures across multiple regions.
  • Scaling high-throughput, low-latency networks to support trading systems operating 24/7 across global markets.
  • Collaborating directly with trading platform teams, engineers, and architects to optimise network performance for mission-critical applications.
  • Driving network automation and orchestration initiatives, building tools that improve monitoring, provisioning, and operational efficiency.
  • Advising on cloud network strategy, integrating private and public cloud environments (AWS/GCP) with enterprise data centres.

Key Requirements:

  • 7+ years’ experience in network engineering, ideally within high-performance or low-latency environments.
  • Deep technical knowledge of routing and switching.
  • Certified in Cisco environments (ideally CCIE).
  • Experience working within multi-tenant and hybrid on-prem/private/public cloud environments (AWS or GCP preferred).
  • Exposure to network automation and scripting (Python, Ansible, etc.) is beneficial.
