Job description

When it comes to health, we’re always looking for ways to push for better. It’s why we were founded in the first place. In 1957, our founder, pharmacist William Wilkinson, witnessed a mother sacrifice her health by forgoing her own medicine to pay for her sick daughter’s prescription. He knew there had to be a better way. So, he introduced North America’s first prepaid drug plan, and GreenShield was born as a not-for-profit with a mission to support better health for all Canadians.

We aren’t just a health and benefits company. We’re the only not-for-profit social enterprise that brings worlds of coverage and care together, all in one place.

We’re noble challengers, purposefully building a better way, and we need the best people to help us create a more holistic approach that takes care of the mind and body.

Our mission is to create better health for all Canadians, and we know that starts with our employees.

The Role in a Nutshell

As a large custom-development shop, GreenShield believes in integrating IT into all aspects of our business. Our IT team is highly engaged and committed to supporting the growth of the organization by leveraging and integrating advancements in technologies to support the execution of GreenShield’s strategic plan. Our approach is rooted in strategic partnerships, so being a part of the IT team offers a variety of rewarding challenges for today’s solution-driven professionals. We have big plans, and we need talented go-getters to get us there.

Reporting to the Manager, Network Operations, the Senior Network Analyst plays a lead role in the Network Administration team responsible for support of the GreenShield network including switching, routing, firewall, IPS, and telephony infrastructure.

  • Support the delivery of IT services to meet service level agreements (SLA) for internal and external customers.
  • Lead and/or assist in the planning, design, implementation, and operation of complex network infrastructure systems that include enterprise networking environments (Data Centre, Campus, Cloud), campus wired and wireless environments, policy management platforms, network security appliances, network automation, IP telephony, contact center services, and video collaboration systems.
  • Monitor network performance and capacity, lead change, incident, and problem management tasks, develop support runbooks, and participate in disaster recovery testing.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate IT and Security policies, manage vendor relationships, and collaborate with other teams for new solution implementations.
  • Provide mentorship and 24x7 on-call support, with occasional shifts and travel as needed.
Who We're Looking For
  • A university degree or college diploma in Computer Science or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience with enterprise network support, including TCP/IP, DNS, routing (OSPF, BGP), SD-WAN, wireless (Cisco/Meraki), and network analysis tools.
  • Experience with Zero Trust Network Architecture, cloud networks (Azure, GCP, AWS), and assets like firewalls and IPS is a plus.
  • Strong communication, planning, analytical skills, and ability to work independently and in teams.
