Job summary

MDA Space is seeking a Sr Mission Systems Engineer to translate customer needs into comprehensive system requirements for space missions. You will lead mission design trade-offs, develop plans and budgets, and supervise analyses and testing across the full satellite lifecycle.

Ideal candidates have a Mastery in aerospace engineering disciplines, 10+ years in space systems, and strong communication skills to collaborate with clients and cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Computer Systems Engineering, Engineering Physics or Applied Mathematics.
• 10+ years experience in a relevant field.
• Experience or knowledge in satellites and their applications: Telecommunication, Optical or SAR remote sensing; attitude control; orbit maintenance; power and comms.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with clients and teams.

Responsibilities

• Translate customer needs into system requirements from mission level to major subsystems.
• Lead mission design trade-off studies including technical, cost, schedule and risk.
• Develop engineering plans, budgets, design reports and operational concepts.
• Oversee analyses such as link budgets, coverage, geolocation accuracy and pointing budgets.
• Supervise spacecraft test, commissioning and operational procedures.
• Lead Engineering Review Teams for bids and programs.

Education
