Job summary

Hatch Ltd. is seeking a Senior Mining Engineer to support major mining projects across North America and internationally.

The role leads technical mining studies, provides engineering oversight across project phases, and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to deliver world-class mining solutions. Ideal candidates bring strong mining expertise, consulting and project delivery experience, and the ability to mentor junior engineers while maintaining strong client relationships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering is required.
• Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Canada or eligible for registration.
• 10+ years of progressive mining engineering experience.
• Experience in consulting, owner/operator, EPCM, or engineering consulting environments.
• Experience in both open pit and underground operations is advantageous.
• International project experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead mining engineering studies (PEA, PFS, FS) and Detailed Engineering.
• Coordinate deliverables with multidisciplinary teams across projects.
• Develop and review mine planning, equipment sizing, and Life-of-Mine plans.
• Deliver budgets, schedules, and technical quality of mining work packages.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to client relationships and business development.

We are seeking a Senior Mining Engineer to support major mining projects across North America and internationally. This role will lead technical mining studies, provide engineering oversight across project phases, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver world-class mining solutions for our clients.

The ideal candidate will combine strong technical mining expertise with consulting, project delivery, and client-facing capabilities. Experience in open pit and/or underground operations, mining studies, mine planning, due diligence, and project execution is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership
• Lead and execute mining engineering studies including:
• Preliminary Economic Assessments (PEA)
• Prefeasibility Studies (PFS)
• Feasibility Studies (FS)
• Detailed Engineering
• Develop and review:
• Mining equipment selection and sizing
• Life-of-Mine (LOM) plans
• Capital and operating cost estimates
• Complete technical evaluations and trade-off studies.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety requirements, and engineering best practices.

Project Delivery

• Serve as Lead Mining Engineer on multidiscipline project teams.
• Coordinate mining engineering deliverables with discipline engineering, geology, geotechnical, metallurgy, infrastructure, environmental, process, and construction teams.
• Support project execution through all project phases.
• Manage budgets, schedules, and technical quality of mining work packages.
• Participate in peer reviews and quality assurance processes.

Client & Business Development

• Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
• Present technical findings to internal and external stakeholders.
• Participate in proposal development and technical sales support.
• Contribute to business development initiatives and market growth strategies.
• Identify opportunities for repeat business and new project pursuits.
• Mentor junior and intermediate mining engineers.
• Provide technical coaching and project guidance.
• Support recruitment, resource planning, and team development initiatives.

Qualifications

• Education
• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering
• Professional Registration
• Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Canada, or eligible for registration
• Experience
• 10+ years of progressive mining engineering experience.
• Experience within consulting, owner/operator, EPCM, or engineering consulting environments.
• Demonstrated experience delivering mining studies and project execution assignments.
• Experience in both open pit and underground operations considered highly advantageous.
• International project experience is an asset.
