ML6 is proud to partner with a leading mining organization located in Northern Ontario in the search for a Senior Metallurgist to join their high-performing technical team. This is a mission-critical role for a seasoned metallurgical professional looking to drive innovation and performance in a gold processing operation. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, a deep understanding of mineral processing, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement and plant optimization.
What You’ll Be Doing :
- Monitor and analyze daily plant performance data to identify and address inefficiencies.
- Lead the implementation of process changes aimed at optimizing gold recovery, reagent consumption, and plant throughput.
- Design and execute metallurgical test work including lab experiments and full-scale plant trials.
- Provide day-to-day metallurgical support and guidance to plant operations teams including operators, supervisors, and maintenance personnel.
- Troubleshoot complex metallurgical challenges and propose actionable solutions.
- Develop, maintain, and manage metallurgical accounting systems to ensure accurate reporting of recovery, losses, and performance metrics.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives and process optimization projects.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, equipment, and best practices to improve gold processing and plant efficiency.
- Prepare and present detailed metallurgical performance reports and strategic recommendations to management.
- Mentor and train junior metallurgists, operators, and technical staff.
- Ensure all activities are conducted in alignment with health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Participate in risk assessments and hazard mitigation planning for plant operations.
What You’ll Need to Be Successful :
- Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline
- 5–7+ years of experience in mineral processing with a strong focus on gold recovery
- Deep knowledge of milling, leaching, and CIP circuits
- Familiarity with metallurgical accounting software and best practices
- Proven track record of driving plant performance and resolving operational bottlenecks
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Leadership experience with a collaborative and hands-on management style
