Join the BC Cancer team as a Senior Medical Physicist in the heart of British Columbia. The Senior Medical Physicist provides advanced physics expertise to support radiation therapy planning and treatment.

What You’ll Do
  • Support patient treatment including external beam, brachytherapy, and other radiation techniques, ensuring dose accuracy and correct treatment parameters.
  • Consult with physicians and Radiation Therapists on treatment strategies.
  • Develop and oversee the radiation oncology quality assurance program, verifying equipment and treatment accuracy.
  • Coordinate with service personnel for repairs and troubleshooting.
  • Ensure radiation safety procedures are followed, monitor radiation levels, and maintain license compliance.
  • Train staff in radiation safety protocols.
  • Research, develop, and implement new clinical devices and techniques, collaborating with medical professionals.
  • Develop policies and procedures, providing staff training.
  • Stay current with radiotherapy technologies, assessing and commissioning equipment.
  • Make decisions on equipment readiness for clinical use, directing technical staff and external service providers.
Qualifications

What You Bring

  • M.Sc. or Ph.D. in medical physics from a CAMPEP-accredited program, or equivalent qualifications, with certification from CCPM or ABR. Completion of a CAMPEP residency and 8+ years of related experience preferred. FCCPM certification required within 2 years.
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality medical radiation therapy physics services.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, analytical, communication, and teaching skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Leadership experience in major projects and contributions to the profession.
  • Adherence to the Canadian Organization of Medical Physicists code of ethics.

  • Salary: $165,865 - $248,798/year, commensurate with experience
