The opportunity

dcbel is seeking to hire a Senior Mechanical-Thermal Design Engineer to join our expanding team. We are looking for a candidate with experience and knowledge in thermal mitigation techniques for consumer electronic products.

Main responsibilities

1. Utilize SolidWorks Flow Simulation software to design electronic cooling strategies for consumer products.
2. Design, analyze, prototype, and validate cooling system components such as passive/active heatsinks, heat spreaders, and cooling fans.
3. Coordinate with component suppliers for prototype creation, tooling design, and manufacturing logistics.
4. Create component drawings, assembly drawings, bills of materials, and change orders.
5. Manage CAD data via PLM/PDM systems.
6. Collaborate with Product Design, Electronics, Manufacturing, and Testing teams.
7. Ensure products meet quality and safety standards required for UL certification.

Key requirements

1. Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
2. 10+ years of experience as a mechanical-thermal design engineer.
3. Expertise in thermal simulation, analysis, and testing.
4. Proficiency in prototyping solutions and high-volume manufacturing methods.
5. High proficiency in SolidWorks CAD modeling.
6. Expertise in thermal simulation software, preferably SolidWorks Flow.
7. Expertise in heatsink design and manufacturing techniques.
8. Expertise in materials selection for cooling applications.
9. Experience designing consumer products for high-volume manufacturing.
10. Understanding of UL and NEC requirements.
11. Experience designing high-power products.
