Job summary

Linxus Group is seeking a Senior Mechanical Systems Designer for Mineral Processing Plants in the Greater Toronto Area. You will lead mechanical layout design efforts, overseeing 2D layouts and 3D modeling, ensuring deliverables meet project criteria, codes, and standards.

You will mentor layout designers, manage budgets and schedules, and contribute to proposals with input on design approaches and estimates. Experience in mineral processing and relevant EPC/EPCM environments is essential.

Qualifications

• 15 years relevant experience in Mechanical Layout and design drafting of Mineral Processing Plants within a large EPC/EPCM environment.
• Mechanical Layout design experience for studies and projects, with knowledge of industry standards.
• Gold and Copper commodities experience is preferred; ability to collaborate across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare mechanical layouts: study level and detail drawings per project requirements.
• Develop 2D layouts; 3D layout using AutoCAD is an asset.
• Produce design criteria, drawings and reports for layout deliverables.
• Deliver drawings according to design criteria, regulations, codes and standards.
• Maintain drafting standards across projects and mentor layout designers.
• Manage a team of layout designers against schedule and budgeted hours.
• Monitor layout budget hours and manpower loading; provide forecasts.
• Support proposal managers with input for proposals and estimates.
• Coordinate interdisciplinary activities when developing layouts or models.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Mechanical Layout Designer to support an EPCM based in the GTA. They require someone with extensive Piping and Mechanical layout design expertise with Mineral Processing Plants.

About the role

• Prepare mechanical layouts: study level and detail drawings in line with project requirements


• Development of mechanical layouts in 2D layouts (Autocad 3D layout an asset).


• Produce layout relevant deliverables such as design criteria, design drawings and reports.


• Deliver design drawings according to project-specific design criteria as well as the defined regulations, codes, and standards.


• Maintain consistent design drafting standards across projects by communicating expectations and holding project members to account for standards.


• Manage a team of layout designers against project schedule and budgeted hours.


• Control and monitor layout budget hours and manpower loading and provide forecast.


• Support proposal managers in providing input for the proposal and estimates.


• Facilitate and ensure interdisciplinary co-ordination when developing layouts or models.

Requirements:

• Mechanical Engineering Technician diploma or equivalent.


• 15 years relevant experience in Mechanical Layout and design drafting of Mineral Processing Plants within a large project, multidisciplinary EPC/EPCM environment.


• Gold and Copper commodities experience.


• Experience in layout design for studies and projects.


• Ability to design AutoCAD, Prostructures, 2D and 3D. Smartplant an asset.


• Use of ProjectWise is an asset.


• Able to use vendor data, drawings and information to develop and verify the model.


• Knowledge of industry or regulatory standards, regulations and codes relating to the design and systems for projects.


• Able to work well, either as lead, part of a team or independently.
