Senior Mechanical Equipment Engineer (Operations & Maintenance)

Candu Energy Inc. is looking to hire a Senior Mechanical Equipment Engineer (Operations & Maintenance). This position requires experienced individuals who are self-starters capable of working independently. The individuals will work in a fast-paced team environment, performing and leading engineering services for Nuclear Power Plants within a matrix organization.
Your role within the team:
- Develop and implement Plant Outage Plans, Operation and Maintenance (O&M) Procedures, Systematic Assessment of Maintenance, and FMEA procedures and techniques. Proactively work out and implement plant-specific methodologies to assess equipment condition monitoring, single point vulnerability, predictive and preventive maintenance strategies to mitigate risks and maintain plant needs, enhancing plant operating life, operational performance, reliability, and safety.
- Perform technical reviews of process flow sheets, detailed drawings, equipment arrangements/layouts, and the sizing and selection of mechanical components related to nuclear steam plants, ensuring maintenance-based design features and ease of plant operation and equipment maintenance are met.
- Interact with peers and other disciplines, including equipment engineering, providing maintenance-based design input for deliverables such as specifications, component sheets, plant layout, inspection and test procedures, commissioning plans, and registration design submissions.
- Coordinate on large-scale new and ongoing nuclear power plants, providing technical advice and guidance for the overall O&M recommendations to ensure the upkeep, economic, and reliable operation of critical equipment.
- Monitor and report project progress and communicate with clients.
- Support manufacturing, assembly, testing, and commissioning tasks at site.
- Review design reports, analysis reports, calculations, documents, and drawings in support of design verification.
- Conduct technical, conceptual, and detailed meetings with peers, clients, and suppliers. Write and follow up on action plans and prepare detailed O&M reports.

The ideal candidate:
- Engineering degree from an accredited University in Mechanical or Nuclear Engineering.
- Registered Professional Engineer in Ontario, qualified to seal engineering documents.
- Proven experience in a senior engineer role in plant O&M, preferably in Candu nuclear power plants, oil refineries, petrochemical or other process plants, excluding metal fabrication and automotive assembly. Experience should cover major systems and critical equipment, mechanical design, and operation and maintenance of industrial machines and equipment such as pumps, fans, motors, valves, heat exchangers, steam generators, pressure vessels, tanks, piping, HVAC systems, steam turbines, condensers, and related mechanical components.
- A strong team player with experience in inter-discipline coordination with Process System, Electrical/I&C, Civil/Structural, Safety & Reliability, and Piping Engineers.
- Solid understanding of process systems, equipment, operation and maintenance procedures, materials, material selection, and fundamentals of machine component design. Experience in equipment sizing, selection, and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of/experience with nuclear pressure boundary Codes and Standards is an asset.
- Proven experience in Plant Operation and Maintenance, Failure Modes Effects Analysis, equipment aging processes, degradation mechanisms, and mitigation methodologies to enhance equipment life, operational performance, and reliability, with a focus on safety.
