Senior Mechanical Engineer (Stress Engineer) - P.Eng

First established in 1999, TWD has grown into a leading multi-discipline engineering, procurement, and construction management company providing project development, execution, and engineering services. Our expertise includes oil and gas, pipelines, terminalling and blending, renewables, power, chemical processing, and food and beverage.

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Mechanical Engineer - Stress Engineer to join our Sarnia, Ontario team. This role offers the opportunity to work across various industries including Oil Sands, Refining, Chemical, and Power.

Job Summary

The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for planning, organizing, and executing mechanical engineering tasks, including piping engineering and design support. The role involves working as part of dynamic project teams on diverse tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Supervise and perform calculations and design using computer-aided and manual techniques; assist in schedules, estimates, reports, meetings, procurement, and activities.
  2. Organize and plan jobs, review specifications, evaluate bids, develop schedules, and monitor estimates and manpower forecasts.
  3. Collaborate with vendors and other disciplines, review vendor data and drawings.
  4. Travel as needed to support project and department goals.
  5. Ensure compliance with relevant codes and regulations.
  6. Prepare, review, and approve mechanical packages for processing equipment, including pressure vessels, piping systems, pumps, and heat exchangers.
  7. Develop Scope of Work and construction packages.
  8. Review piping designs, stress analysis reports, and piping specifications.
  9. Participate in PHA studies and provide safe design checks.
  10. Support ongoing development of internal systems for quality and efficiency.
  11. Conduct field investigations and provide engineering support across disciplines.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 10+ Years of experience in Mechanical Engineering
  • P.Eng. in Ontario
  • Knowledge of piping and static/rotating equipment
  • Experience with Plant 3D and Caesar II
  • Understanding of electrical system design is an asset
  • Strong grasp of engineering principles and codes
  • Experience across project phases: design, tendering, construction, commissioning
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
