At TWD Technologies, we are seeking a highly motivated Senior Mechanical Engineer - Stress Engineer to join our Burlington, Ontario team.

Job Summary

The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for planning, organizing, and executing various aspects of mechanical engineering, piping engineering, and design support. This includes participating as a member of dynamic project teams across a wide range of tasks.

The position offers opportunities to work in industries such as Oil Sands, Refining, Chemical, and Power.

Job Duties
  1. Supervise, perform, and check calculations and designs using computer-aided and manual techniques.
  2. Provide assistance to the Department Manager in areas such as schedules, estimates, progress reports, meetings, procurement, and activities.
  3. Organize and plan jobs, write/review specifications, technical bid evaluations, prepare schedules, develop estimates and manpower forecasts, and coordinate with project/client/field activities.
  4. Utilize vendor data and collaborate with personnel from other disciplines for design performance.
  5. Perform squad checks of vendor data and drawings from other disciplines.
  6. Travel as required to ensure successful project and department execution.
  7. Conduct self-checks, develop confidence, and guide less experienced engineers.
  8. Ensure thorough understanding of relevant codes, regulations, and industry practices.
  9. Prepare, review, and approve mechanical packages for processing equipment, including pressure vessels, piping systems, pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, and storage tanks.
  10. Develop Scope of Work and construction work packages (CWPs).
  11. Review and approve piping designs, stress analysis reports, and piping specifications.
  12. Participate in PHA (Process Hazards Analyses) studies to assess risks.
  13. Provide internal 'Safe Design' checks on project packages.
  14. Assist in developing internal systems to improve quality and efficiency.
  15. Participate in and conduct field investigations.
  16. Provide engineering support in other disciplines as needed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 10+ years of experience in Mechanical Engineering
  • P.Eng. license in Ontario
  • Knowledge of piping and static/rotating equipment
  • Experience with Plant 3D and Caesar II
  • Familiarity with electrical distribution system design is an asset
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles and detailed calculations
  • Experience across project phases: design, tendering, construction supervision, commissioning
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
