Job summary

Rogue Cortex is seeking a Master Mechanical Engineer to own the mechanical architecture of our mobile robotics platforms - UAVs, UGVs, USVs - from concept through production. You will design airframes, chassis, hulls, and integrated systems, and you will be responsible for manufacturable drawings and DFM.

You will build fixtures and test rigs, prototype with bespoke components when needed, and drive designs toward volume manufacturing with contract manufacturers.

Qualifications

  • Experience leading mechanical design from concept to production.
  • Strong CAD and GD&T proficiency with manufacturable drawings.
  • Deep knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes including machining, molding, sheet metal, composites, and additive.
  • Experience designing mechanisms, actuation systems, and motion components for harsh environments.
  • Ability to drive DFM/DFA and move designs to high-volume production.

Responsibilities

  • Own mechanical architecture across structures, mechanisms, and physical integration for our mobile robotics platforms - UAVs, UGVs, USVs - from concept through production
  • Design complex mechanical assemblies: airframes, chassis, hulls, load-bearing structures, enclosures, mounts, and harnessing routes with full CAD ownership
  • Design actuation and mechanisms, gimbals, deployment systems, drivetrains with integrated motors, gears, bearings, seals
  • Address physical environment requirements: vibration, shock, thermal management, ingress protection, sealing, corrosion, weight
  • Own materials and manufacturing: select materials and processes (machining, molding, sheet metal, composites, additive), drive designs from prototype to volume with contract manufacturers
  • Develop fixtures, jigs, and mechanical test rigs to validate hardware and measure performance
  • Explore new techniques and materials; bring promising ones into product
  • Debug cross-domain mechanical failures to root cause using first-principles and appropriate tools
