Job summary

Tetra Tech, based in Thunder Bay, Ontario, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical design and project execution on mining and industrial facilities. You will drive safe, efficient layouts, piping, HVAC, and equipment integration while collaborating with a broad engineering team.

You will mentor engineers, support procurement and field activities, and help grow client relationships, contributing to strong safety practices and project delivery excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• Minimum 15 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience, preferably in mining or related sectors.
• Must be registered as a professional engineer with PEO.
• Familiarity with engineering analysis software.
• Experience with industrial plant layout, pumping and piping systems, conveyors, HVAC, and material handling equipment.
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite including Teams and Excel.
• Experience with 2D/3D CAD software such as Plant 3D, AutoCAD, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Navisworks, Revit, CADWorx, Inventor, SolidWorks.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical projects of appropriate size and complexity to develop safe, efficient mechanical designs and specifications.
• Work on mining and industrial process improvements, plant layouts, equipment selections and integration, piping and HVAC.
• Participate in all project phases including scoping, proposals, feasibility, detailed design, construction support, commissioning, field engineering, and BD.
• Prepare and review PFDs and P&IDs.
• Collaborate with multidiscipline teams and mentor junior engineers and staff.
• Support procurement, construction, and site activities including package development and vendor coordination.
• Build and maintain client relationships and contribute to business development.
• Promote safety culture and adhere to company procedures.
