Job summary

BBA Consultants is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Calgary, AB, to lead mechanical and piping engineering efforts across front-end studies to detailed design. The role emphasizes client communication, project leadership, and mentorship within heavy industry projects.

The candidate should have 8–12 years of experience, a mechanical engineering degree, and eligibility for P.Eng with APEGA. Travel up to 20–30% and a hybrid work model in Calgary are offered.

Qualifications

• University degree in mechanical engineering.
• 8–12 years in heavy industry with consulting and site experience.
• Eligible for P.Eng registration with APEGA.
• Experience in oil & gas, carbon capture, mining/metals, hydroelectric, renewables or pulp & paper.
• Class 5 AB driver’s license and willingness to travel 20–30%.
• Strong written and spoken communication; ability to lead teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead all or mechanical scopes on conceptual design through detail engineering.
• Serve as project manager on mining/metals, hydro, renewables projects.
• Mentor junior and intermediate engineers and develop team capabilities.
• Develop scopes of work, budgets, methodologies and proposals.
• Prepare / review reports, estimates, specifications and design deliverables.
