Job Description

We are strengthening our position in the hydroelectric turbine alternator/generator consultancy market. The Engineer will join a dynamic team to develop this expertise by providing engineering services and advice on design, manufacture, installation, and operation of turbines and alternators for new power stations, refurbishments, or operational optimizations.

We offer a flexible hybrid work model, allowing work from home and from our offices, preferably in the Greater Montreal or Sherbrooke areas in Quebec.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Carrying out preliminary modernization projects, including technical audits and drawing up specifications.
  • Managing engineering projects related to generator set modernization, new power plants, major parts refurbishment, power increase analysis, cost estimates, schedules, and feasibility studies.
  • Verifying compliance with contractual technical requirements of supplier documentation.
  • Technical writing including reports, verification documents, modification requests, and non-conformity reports.
  • Follow-up during manufacturing, on-site assembly, and modifications.
  • Selection, optimization, and hydraulic sizing of turbines based on curves and hydraulic model tests.
  • Calculations to optimize power plant output.
  • Coordination of mechanical interfaces between turbines, generators, and plant structures.

Qualifications

  • University degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
  • Member of l'Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) or eligible for registration.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in designing, manufacturing, and assembling turbine generator sets.
  • High degree of autonomy.
  • Fluency in written and spoken French.
  • Proficiency in English for project communication at a national level.
  • Willingness to travel to sites, clients, and suppliers as needed.
