Job description

Position Details

We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Healthcare Team in our Vancouver office. This includes overseeing technical and financial project performance as well as ongoing business development activities. You should be an experienced engineer with an excellent track record, both technically and in business development. Creative thinking and a proactive attitude, along with strong communication, organizational and report writing skills, are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a high level of client satisfaction.
  • Maintain and oversee overall the team’s project financial performance (annual profit target).
  • Maintain business development and the team’s backlog (annual revenue and new work targets).
  • Provide mentorship and career development guidance to the Healthcare Team
  • Ensure technical quality is maintained for the team.
  • Maintain career development as required to maintain professional designations
  • Should maintain team account collections and payables.
  • Build and maintain new and existing client relationships.
  • Participate in AME’s ongoing strategic planning with internal leadership (twice per year).
  • Build and maintain a presence in the industry and sector that is served by the team, through community, industry, and educational engagement.
  • Participate in developing internal technical guidance documents.
  • Participate in relevant conferences annually.
  • Develop and provide presentations to staff, clients, or at conferences.

Key Skills

  • Ability to evaluate team make-up relating to current and future project demands.
  • Planning team structure and make-up. This includes evaluating and hiring candidates as needed to adjust team structure.
  • Technical and project management mentoring to team members.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of technical developments in the field of engineering.
  • Analytical, communication and report writing skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish effective working relationships with all employees, clients, colleagues, and municipal agencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments and conflicting priorities.
  • Ability to formulate sound engineering decisions and judgment.
  • Qualifications and Experience

  • P.Eng. or Professional Technologist designation is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Minimum 4-5 years of experience in the engineering industry, with a focus on managing teams, business development, and client relationship management.
  • Design experience in healthcare sector. Knowledge of related healthcare standards such as CSA and ASHRAE.
  • Sustainable design certification (LEED, Certified Passive House Designer, etc.) or experience would be an asset.
