Senior Mechanical Engineer - Energy Generation

Join our team at WSP in Canada as a Senior Mechanical Engineer, focusing on energy generation projects. We are seeking candidates for our offices in Calgary, AB, Moncton, NB, or Kitchener, ON.

About the Role: In this position, you will lead complex energy projects from conception to detailed engineering, collaborating across disciplines to achieve mechanical engineering goals. You will work with various clients, including power producers, utilities, and developers, on technologies like biomass, geothermal, hydrogen, renewable natural gas, fossil fuels, carbon capture, battery storage, and hydro.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design mechanical piping and equipment for power plants
  • Apply engineering standards and industry codes to projects
  • Perform complex engineering analyses, calculations, and equipment selection
  • Develop P&IDs for various power plant systems
  • Specify major equipment and prepare installation scopes
  • Ensure designs meet industry, contract, and company standards
  • Coordinate with team members and review work progress
  • Provide technical mentorship

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in EPCM environment, preferably in industrial facilities
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng, Ing, PE)
  • Experience with power plant and renewable natural gas plant design preferred
  • Proven leadership and client-facing experience
  • Proficiency with Microstation, AutoCAD, Smart Plant 3D, CADworx, Caesar II, AutoPipe, Thermoflow
