Job summary

WSP is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design of mission-critical data centers across Canada. You will guide multidisciplinary teams through cooling, reliability, and efficiency challenges while serving as Engineer of Record for selected projects.

The role requires a P.Eng. and licensure in Canada, with 10+ years in data center environments. Expect collaboration with electrical, structural, and controls teams, and periodic travel within Canada.

Qualifications

Requires a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering and a P.Eng. designation.
Active licensure in Ontario, Alberta, or British Columbia for Engineer of Record duties.
10+ years of progressive mechanical engineering experience in mission-critical/data center environments.
Strong expertise in chilled water systems, cooling plants, pumping systems, heat rejection equipment, and related architectures.
Experience integrating rack-level liquid cooling and cooling distribution units for high-density AI/HPC deployments.

Responsibilities

Lead mechanical design and technical delivery for enterprise, colocation, and hyperscale data centers.
Serve as Engineer of Record, review and approve engineering deliverables for quality and constructability.
Develop resilient cooling strategies including chilled water plants and heat rejection systems.
Direct CFD analyses to optimize airflow, thermal performance, and facility efficiency.
Integrate mechanical systems with electrical, structural, and controls requirements for coordinated solutions.
Champion BIM and digital engineering to improve coordination and lifecycle performance.
Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and support business development.
