Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Senior Mechanical Engineer - ATCT & Fuel Farms to join our team! In this role you will get to design, implementation, and oversight of all mechanical systems associated with the project. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of mechanical engineering principles, a track record in airfield-related projects, and the leadership abilities required to guide teams through the successful delivery of complex, large-scale infrastructure projects.

What You'll Be Doing;

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of mechanical systems for the ATCT airfield project, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and other essential mechanical systems.
  • Conduct thorough analysis and feasibility studies, ensuring that all mechanical systems meet the project’s specific operational requirements.
  • Provide expert advice and solutions to address mechanical design challenges while ensuring project objectives are met.
  • Oversee mechanical engineering aspects of the airfield project, ensuring timely delivery and coordination with other engineering disciplines (civil, electrical, etc.).
  • Develop and maintain project schedules and budgets, ensuring compliance with project timelines, scope, and cost estimates.
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, and other project stakeholders to ensure mechanical systems are integrated into the overall design and executed according to specifications.
  • Ensure that all mechanical designs comply with industry standards, local regulations, and codes of practice (e.g., ASHRAE, NFPA, etc.).
  • Develop and review technical specifications for the procurement of mechanical equipment and systems.
  • Conduct site inspections and audits to ensure installation meets design specifications and quality standards.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers and technical staff, providing leadership, training, and support for professional development.
  • Lead internal and external meetings with stakeholders to discuss project progress, technical challenges, and solutions.
  • Foster a collaborative and efficient work environment to promote effective teamwork and productivity.
  • Implement quality control procedures and ensure that all mechanical systems are tested, commissioned, and operational as per project requirements.
  • Identify potential risks or issues within mechanical engineering tasks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Manage mechanical-related documentation, including design drawings, specifications, and test results, ensuring they are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Drive energy-efficient and sustainable mechanical engineering solutions, ensuring the project meets environmental regulations and sustainability goals.
  • Research and incorporate innovative mechanical technologies and practices that can enhance system performance, safety, and cost-efficiency.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and external consultants to keep them informed about mechanical system designs, challenges, and project progress.
  • Present technical reports and findings to senior management and stakeholders, providing clear and concise recommendations.

What Required Skills You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., PMP, CEng) are a plus.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with at least 3 years in senior roles on large-scale infrastructure or airfield projects.
  • Proven experience with the design, installation, and commissioning of mechanical systems, especially in aviation or airfield-related projects.
  • Experience in managing mechanical project scopes, schedules, and budgets.
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, etc.) and relevant industry standards and codes.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in mechanical design software (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.) and analysis tools.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to manage project budgets, timelines, and resources efficiently.
  • PMP, CEng, or LEED accreditation.
  • Previous experience on airfield or airport-related projects, including ATCT systems.
  • Expertise in energy-efficient mechanical solutions and sustainable design practices.
  • Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modeling) and advanced mechanical engineering software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to resolve engineering issues and optimize mechanical designs.
