Senior Mechanical Engineer – Alternator (Hydroelectricity)

    We are seeking a seasoned Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and development of alternator components for hydroelectric projects across North America. This role involves coordinating engineering activities, supporting supply chain and installation processes, and collaborating with international teams to ensure project success.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Design mechanical components for alternators in hydroelectric projects.
    • Coordinate all engineering activities related to alternators within assigned projects.
    • Lead design reviews and collaborate with engineers, experts, and cross-functional departments.
    • Supervise design engineers and drafters in producing calculation notes, specifications, drawings, and BOMs.
    • Work closely with global centers of excellence, supply chain, and site installation managers.
    • Ensure adherence to reliability, quality, safety, and cost standards.
    • Collaborate with engineering managers on various projects.
      • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
      • 5 to 10 years of experience in alternator mechanics, preferably in hydroelectric projects.
      • Strong knowledge of material strength and hydraulic design principles.
      • Proactive, autonomous, and possesses a strong sense of urgency.
      • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
      • Analytical mindset and a collaborative team player.
      • Bilingual in English and French; English-only candidates will also be considered.
      • Willingness to travel occasionally (5–10%).
      • Registered or eligible for registration with a Canadian professional engineering association (e.g., OIQ or PEO).
      • Proficiency in CAD tools.
      • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada and agree to a pre-employment background check.
