Pave Talent is hiring for our client, a small, highly specialized innovator in advanced elastomeric solutions.
Job Overview
This hands-on engineering role is ideal for someone who enjoys wearing multiple hats, collaborating closely with production teams, and thriving in a dynamic, agile environment. Approximately 60-70% of your engineering work will involve reverse engineering and built-to-print projects, creating detailed CAD models and precise technical documentation for elastomeric and metal-to-rubber bonded components. You'll regularly engage with shop-floor manufacturing operations, optimizing processes, solving technical challenges, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. As the senior engineer on a small, close-knit team, you'll also mentor, manage, and develop engineering interns.
Key Responsibilities
Perform mechanical design and engineering primarily focused on reverse engineering and built-to-print projects involving elastomeric and metal-to-rubber bonded components.
Create detailed, precise 3D CAD models, technical drawings, and engineering documentation using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or CATIA.
Optimize existing designs and manufacturing processes for efficiency, durability, performance in demanding environments, and cost-effectiveness.
Ensure all engineering designs comply with ISO 9001 and applicable industry standards, and manage corresponding documentation.
Actively collaborate with manufacturing, quality assurance, materials lab, and cross-functional teams throughout the production lifecycle.
Provide mentorship, supervision, and professional development guidance to engineering interns.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in mechanical or industrial engineering is required.
5+ years of mechanical design and manufacturing experience, with at least 2 years specifically working with rubber, elastomers, or composite materials.
Expertise in CAD software (SolidWorks; experience with AutoCAD or CATIA is acceptable).
Strong proficiency with GD&T (ASME Y14.5).
Experience with reverse engineering and built-to-print design projects is required.
Familiarity with manufacturing processes including 3D printing, rubber molding, polymer extrusion, CNC machining, and coating applications.
Understanding of ISO 9001 compliance and documentation processes.
Interest in mentoring junior team members or interns; previous experience supervising or mentoring is a plus.
Must be a U.S. citizen or Permanent Resident due to ITAR compliance requirements.
